.artSümer is proud to present Eymen Aktel’s first solo exhibition at the gallery titled Joy of Rainless Lands between November 1 – December 5, 2025.
Eymen Aktel’s practice focuses on forms of social order, labor, and pluralistic ways of living. Her figures create visual narratives that go beyond symbolic representation by interrogating the cultural, political, and ontological relationship between humans and nature, highlighting the permeable boundaries connecting society and the environment.
Joy of Rainless Lands follows different trajectories in the artist’s practice. In the exhibition, scenes of social cohesion, cycles of labor, and collectivity occupy the same space as compositions that analyze more intimate concepts like the prolongation of life, belonging, and protection. This encounter allows for a survey of labor, productivity, and fertility, synthesizing these universal themes from different perspectives across human sociality from the smallest scale to the masses.
The artist’s formal references to aesthetics of antiquity and mythological motifs construct a temporal bridge between historical and contemporary conditions. Her approach joins together the rituals of the past with today’s social reality and makes space for a productive and sustainable expression of joyous solidarity that can weather any storm or drought.
